Coast of Southern California, 22 June 1997 — Flight deck crew members wait on the flight deck of the USS Tarawa (LHA 1) prior to the launch of a AH-1W Cobra helicopter during “Exercise Kernel Blitz '97”. “Kernel Blitz” is taking place off the coast of Southern California to train Navy and Marine Corps personnel in amphibious operations.
