Guided Missile Destroyer USS Russell (DDG 59)

Kuantan, Malaysia, 17 July 2004 — The guided missile destroyer USS Russell (DDG 59) departs the port facility, at Kuantan, Malaysia, for the at-sea portion of the Malaysia phase of exercise Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT). Russell and other CARAT Task Group ships will participate in a variety of at-sea exercises with three RMN ships. CARAT is a regularly scheduled series of bilateral training exercises with several Southeast Asia nations designed to enhance the interoperability of the respective sea services.
