At sea aboard USS Essex, 18 November 2001 — A Marine CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter attached to Helicopter Marine Medium Squadron Two Six Five (HMM-265) launches from aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2). Essex has embarked Marines from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (31st MEU).
