Pacific Ocean, 27 January 2004 — A Landing Signals Enlisted (LSE) directs one of three incoming SH-60F “Seahawk” helicopters assigned to the “Eight-ballers” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Eight (HS-8) to a safe landing for refueling and crew swap during flight operations aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70). The Bremerton, Washington based nuclear powered aircraft carrier and her crew are currently underway for the first time since returning from an eight and a half month Western Pacific deployment. Vinson is conducting training with Carrier Air Wing Nine (CVW-9) and units of the USS Carl Vinson Strike Group.
