Japan Maritime Self Defense Force SH-60J
Pacific Ocean, 22 March 2006 —
A Japan Maritime Self Defense Force (JMSDF) H-60J helicopter carrying Destroyer Squadron Nine, Commodore, Capt. Jeff Harley, lifts off from the flight deck aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72), during a passing exercises (PASSEX). Lincoln, Carrier Strike Group Nine and the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force are currently conducting an officer exchange program as part of PASSEX. PASSEX demonstrates the U.S. Navy’s ability to work with forces in the region to carry out combined operations.
