McGregor Range, New Mexico, USA, 21 June 1999 — A Mi-24 “Hind” helicopter simulates an attack while being scoped by a Dutch Stinger Missile Platoon (not shown) on McGregor Range, New Mexico during Roving Sands ‘99. “Roving Sands” is a one-of-a-kind event that is the world’s largest Joint Tactical Air Operations exercise. It melds the Command, Control, Communications, and Computer Elements; Air Defense Artillery; and Aircraft; of the Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, and Multinational Forces, into a Joint Integrated Air Defense System (IADs).
